Hope everyone had a fantastic end of the year and is ready to get sewing again.
When its cold outside and you just want to sew something up for yourself and the kiddos a hat is perfect. Whip it up super quick and enjoy 30 minutes at the sewing machine.
You can download the hat pattern from our sewing academy and get going. The pattern has three sizes, kiddo (age 4+), teen (age 12+) and adult. I have to say though I can easily squeeze into the M and S because my head is rather small. So have a go for the kiddos first and then see.
I have two videos for you here, one which shows how to make the hat in the center with a pompom on top and one video for altering the pattern and sewing the version with fleece strip bundles and the ear warmers. I loved making both!
You will need 1/3 yard of fleece and lining, which can be fleece or a soft lighter weight knit fabric. The options are endless. I would love to make this hat in a more grown up fabric so I can wear it. These examples were made for kiddos and yellow really isn't my colour......
So without further ado here is the basic video:
Now it gets interesting. I always think we all spend too much money on patterns which are just a little different to the onew we already have. So here are some money saving sewing tips for you. I show you how to change the pattern up a bit. The cute little ears are in the pattern file, but I still show how to draw them so you can create more ear options.
And that is it. Pop over to the academy and download the pattern for free!
